On 19 December 2023, for the fifth time, an integrative event "Christmas all around the World" was held at the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology.
In the academic year 2023/2024 appr. 500 students are studying at the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, including 89 foreign students from 21 countries in Polish- and English-language programmes. Among them, 32 students from four continents and 21 countries (Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Burundi, Congo, Egypt, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Ukraine, USA, Zimbabwe) study Medical Biology and Molecular Biology in English.
During the Christmas meeting students presented the traditions and customs of celebrating Christmas and New Year in different countries: Mariia – in Ukrainie, Sara – in Iran, Rafa – in Indonesia and Eliza – in Poland. Everyone also enjoyed the taste of traditional Christmas dishes from different countries prepared with their own hands by students and other participants of the meeting. The beautiful table decoration was prepared by Karolina Tymoszuk and Karolina Jaros with the help of the students.
We were pleased to host the management of the Institute of Biological Sciences: prof. Anna Jarosz-Wilkołazka, prof. Małgorzata Cytryńska, prof. Agnieszka Szuster-Ciesielska, the teaching staff, including prof. Kazimierz Trębacz. Our meeting was honoured by the presence of the staff of the English Language Recruitment Team and the Welcome Centre - Monika Piątek and Patrycja Kuryś from the Office Fot Services For Student and International Student.
The meeting was organised by the Student Council of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology and foreign students of Medical Biology and Molecular Biology with the support of the Faculty authorities, Dean - Prof. Joanna Czarnecka and Pro-Dean for Student Affairs - Prof. Małgorzata Wójcik.
