National Agency for Academic Exchange announced the call for proposals named " Researchers at risk". The initiative aims to provide a stable environment for people with refugee experience wishing to pursue research and share knowledge to continue their careers in a safe environment. The programme will provide financial support, covering the salary costs of full-time researchers at Polish universities, scientific institutes or research institutes.
The Researchers at risk programme is an opportunity for experienced researchers (holding at least PhD degree), regardless of age, field of science or country of origin, to re-engage in research and academic activities. It is aimed at people who have at least a doctoral degree and have received international protection in Poland in the form of refugee status or subsidiary protection and have a Residence Card.
Applications for funding can be submitted by universities, research institutes and scientific units.
Within the framework of the Program, activities enabling foreign scientists to continue their scientific careers, consisting in:
1) conducting scientific research or development work;
2) acquiring materials for a scientific paper or publication;
3) completing a post-doctoral internship; and additionally, only as a supplement to the above objectives, other forms of scientific or academic activity, including teaching.
The funding received will provide the institutions with the means to pay the salaries of full-time researchers employed for a period of 2 years. In addition, the program provides remuneration for a so-called “mentor” - a person delegated to cooperate with and support the employed researcher.
