Accessibility declaration

Introduction to the declaration

Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin undertakes to ensure the accessibility of its website in accordance with the Act of 4 April 2019 on the digital accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public entities.

The accessibility declaration applies to the website https://www.umcs.pl.

Status of digital accessibility

This website is partially compliant with the annex to the Act on digital accessibility of 4 April 2019 on the digital accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public entities due to incompatibilities and exclusions listed below.

Inaccessible content

Incompatibility with the annex

  • The website has PDF documents that were created on the basis of improperly prepared text documents or are scans of documents. We will correct this in the future, taking into account the correct preparation of the source file.
  • Some (especially archival) films and audio materials do not have transcription and/or audio description.
  • Some elements of the page do not meet the minimum requirements for contrast (this is often due to the rules of the university's Visual Identification System).
  • The page may contain graphic elements that do not have an alternative text match. Despite our best efforts - due to the large number of pages and editors (distributed content management system at UMCS) - there may be images without an alternative text match.
  • Selected materials published by people with editorial rights on the website's subpages. We do not verify the content of the editors of the website's subpages on an ongoing basis in terms of digital accessibility.

Content not covered by the regulations

  • Selected films and audio materials that were posted before September 23, 2020 do not have subtitles.
  • Selected documents that were posted before September 23, 2018 are not available.

Excessive costs

  • Selected, old PDF files. The cost of digitizing all digitally inaccessible documents exceeds our financial resources. If you need access to a document that is not digitally available, please contact us. We also inform you that PDF documents that are unreadable by screen readers can be recognized using an OCR (optical character recognition) tool.
  • Archived multimedia that does not have audio description or subtitles. Most of this multimedia is no longer current.
  • Selected, archival thematic pages of the service that are no longer updated.
  • Internal systems used by a small group of people and whose modernization exceeds our financial resources.
  • Selected technical aspects of the service that cannot be repaired due to the requirement to redesign the entire architecture of the service, which exceeds our financial resources.

Preparation of the accessibility declaration

We have prepared the declaration based on a self-assessment based on the Checklist for examining the digital accessibility of a website v. 2.2 (docx, 0.12MB).

Facilities, limitations and other information

  • The website has the following facilities:
    • three versions with increased contrast (1. black background and yellow letters; 2. black background and white letters; 3. yellow background and black letters),
    • a tool to increase the size of letters on the page,
    • a site map.
  • The website pages can be viewed on the screens of mobile devices that correctly support the above standards, such as tablets, smartphones, etc.
  • The website pages are fully optimized for printing, and the website also has a separate button for printing.
  • We plan to modernize the entire website using digital accessibility guidelines and plain language.
  • We are implementing technical corrections to the website that do not require significant financial outlays and do not require redesigning the entire website.
  • We regularly conduct automatic tests of selected pages of the website as well as manual tests.
  • We monitor reports from users about the lack of digital accessibility of selected pages and materials of the website and respond to these reports quickly.
  • We recommend that people who edit subpages of the website post content and materials that are available digitally.
  • We implement simple language in texts that are posted on the website.

Keyboard shortcuts

The website can use standard keyboard shortcuts of the browser used by the user.
