1. What are BIPs?

Short educational programs (5-30 days of physical mobility) with a mandatory virtual component, organized by partner universities abroad. Students must complete at least 3 ECTS credits at the host institution, which are then recognized by UMCS.

2. Who can participate?

  • UMCS students (Bachelor’s, Master’s, long-cycle programs) and PhD candidates, regardless of nationality.
  • Available from the second year of Bachelor’s studies (or exceptionally from the second semester of the first year if the Faculty allows it).

 3. Where and when does recruitment take place?

  • Students and PhD candidates can apply at their Faculty (or home unit) if their program has an agreement with a foreign university. The application deadlines follow the schedule of the host institution organizing the BIP.
  • If a student finds a foreign university on their own, they can apply through the Erasmus Program Office at any time, as long as funding is available.
  • The Faculty Committee, led by the Faculty/Program Coordinator, sets the selection criteria and shares them publicly. For individual applications, students must submit an Application Form with the required documents to the Erasmus Program Office.

4. Funding:

  • Students receive 79 EUR per day for mobilities of 5 to 14 days and 56 EUR per day for mobilities of 15 to 30 days.
  • Extra financial support is available for students with fewer opportunities: 100 EUR for mobilities of 5 to 14 days and 150 EUR for mobilities of 15 to 30 days.
  • Travel costs are covered based on distance and travel type—standard travel gets a regular allowance, while green travel (eco-friendly options) gets a higher allowance if certain conditions are met.
  • Additional funding may be provided for travel days—up to 2 days for standard travel and up to 6 days for green travel, following specific guidelines.

5. Formalities after qualification:

Before Departure:

  • Submit an invitation letter from the host university and get approval from the Faculty Coordinator and Vice-Dean (or Director of the Doctoral School for individual applications).
  • Get the Learning Agreement for Blended Intensive Programme approved.
  • Arrange insurance and a visa (if needed).
  • Submit any other required documents to the Erasmus Program Office.
  • Sign the mobility agreement.

During the Mobility:

  • Collect necessary documents from the host university for finalizing the mobility.

Upon Return:

To complete the process, submit the following documents to the Erasmus Program Office (and separately to the Dean’s Office/Faculty Coordinator):

  • A certificate confirming the BIP duration, including the virtual component.
  • A confirmation from the host university that the BIP was completed, along with the earned ECTS credits.
  • Complete the EU Survey (online questionnaire).
