Dear All,
in the interest of creating an academic environment based on the principles of equality, respect and social responsibility, the Equality Team of UMCS undertakes a number of activities in the current academic year aimed at strengthening anti-discrimination policies and developing an inclusive academic culture.
In particular, the tasks of the Team focus on:
We would like to remind you that within the structures of the University there are Faculty Consultants who are at the permanent disposal of the members of the UMCS community. These individuals – trained in anti-discrimination and initial support – act as a point of contact in situations requiring conversation, information or intervention. The contact data of consultants are available on the UMCS website in the ”Equality” section https://www.umcs.pl/en/faculty-consultants,30608.htm.
Training sessions on the topics of equal recruitment of male and female employees and non-violent communication in the University are also planned for April and May 2025. These training sessions are aimed at both those involved in recruitment processes and anyone interested in deepening their competences in ethical and empathetic communication. Detailed organisational information will soon appear on the UMCS website in the ”Equality” section https://www.umcs.pl/en/faculty-consultants,30608.htm. They will be also provided in a seperate e-mail. In the near future, a career survey will also be carried out to identify barriers and factors supporting the career development of people employed at UMCS. We kindly invite you to participate in the survey – your voice is extremely valuable to us in the proces of improving equality policy at the University.
At the same time, we would like to inform you that, as the part of the information and education activities, materials promoting the anti-discrimination policy of our University – posters, leaflets and brochures – will be displayed in the organisational units of UMCS in April this year, with the aim of disseminating knowledge about the available procedures and support possibilities in the case of experiencing or observing unequal treatment.
