Professor Piotr Lech was born on 9th of March 1954 in Skarżysko-Kamienna.
He studied at the Institute of Artistic Education of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin in the years 1974-1978, obtaining a diploma in graphics in the studio of prof. Danuta Kołwzan - Nowicka.
Since 1979 he was employed at the Institute of Fine Arts of the Faculty of Arts, in the years 2003-2006 he was the director of the Institute, from 2000 he was the head of the Design Graphics and Lithography Department, recently the head of the Department of Design Graphics and Flat Printing.
In 2012, he obtained the title of professor in the field of fine arts. He was a member of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers and the Association of the International Print Triennial in Krakow.
He organized 26 individual exhibitions and participated in 160 national and international collective exhibitions, he was a long-time commissioner of the graphic competition "Graphics of the Year" and the organizer of the UMCS International Lithographic Symposium in Lublin.
In his artistic work, he dealt with graphic arts, mainly lithography, computer graphics and drawing.
His works are in the collection of the Contemporary Portrait Gallery in Radom, in the Print Room of the National Library in Warsaw, in the Print Room of the H. Łopaciński in Lublin, in the Collection of Prints of the Castle Museum in Lublin, in the collections of the State Museum at Majdanek, in the Museo Contemporaneo Latania in Savador, Brazil, in the International Press Gallery in Kanagawa, Japan, in the Rattvik City Gallery in Sweden and in private collections in Poland and abroad.
