Tianjing Ren - PhD student at the Doctoral School of Quantitative and Natural Sciences

Tianjing Ren, originally from China, currently pursuing a PhD in Agriculture and Horticulture at the Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation – State Research Institute. Ren currently works under the supervision of Prof. Bożena Smreczak and Dr. Aleksandra Ukalska-Jaruga.

Her research focuses on the effects of global environmental changes on soil dissolved organic matter (DOM). Specifically, she explores how human activities, such as fertilization and tillage, alongside climate change factors like rising temperatures and nitrogen deposition, impact the dynamics of DOM. This research is crucial for understanding the broader implications of climate change on soil health, nutrient cycles, and agricultural productivity.

By examining these interactions, Ren wishes to contribute to the development of sustainable farming practices that mitigate the adverse effects of climate change while enhancing soil fertility and crop yields. Her experiences in both China and Poland offer a unique perspective, integrating diverse agricultural practices and environmental conditions, which enhances the global relevance of her work in addressing environmental challenges in modern agriculture.
