"Innovation is a woman” – is the motto of the International Maria Curie-Skłodowska Congress that will take place on October 21 and 22, 2024. As one of the most significant events commemorating the 80th anniversary of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, the Congress will bring together leading figures from the fields of business, science, and education. Attendees of this Lublin event will include prominent individuals from the Polish economic and scientific sectors, alongside representatives from the highest levels of government administration. Participants will also include members of the Conference of Rectors of Polish Universities and the ATHENA Consortium of European Universities.
The aim of the Congress is to disseminate, promote, and celebrate the achievements of women in science, business, and education. Through an international gathering of experts from various fields, the Congress will explore the themes of entrepreneurship, development, education, science, and culture, inspired by the slogan "Innovation is a woman. "We are confident that Maria Curie-Skłodowska serves as a powerful symbol of the aspirations of women in Poland, Europe, and beyond—to seek knowledge and pursue bold initiatives. The university that bears her name is an ideal venue for addressing these important challenges.
The distinguished participants, including Dominika Kulczyk, Dr. Irena Eris, Dr. Sylwia Mokrysz, Barbara Nowacka, Hanna Wróblewska, Dr. Joanna Mucha, Bianka Siwińska, and Paulina Paga, are notable figures whose lives embody a mission and vision for progress. Their careers provide a foundation for global discussions on gender equality and the role of women in various aspects of life. These trailblazers are paving the way for future generations of women, who – drawing inspiration from their achievements – will continue to shape the world for the better.
The Congress program will follow three thematic paths: "Science", "Business", and "Education". Over the two days, the event will feature panels with successful women who are champions of science and innovation, an immersive experience with an interactive avatar of Maria Curie-Skłodowska, and the inaugural edition of the innovative project "Maria Curie Exploratorium".
