Dr. Monika Szkarłat - Project Leader


A specialist in international relations and intellectual property law, her research interests encompass biotechnology's social and legal dimensions, the interplay between science and policy, including the role of expert knowledge in decision-making processes, and the internationalisation of science. Since 2023, she has been a team member co-founding the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Computational Modeling at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS). She serves as a delegate to the Polish Polar Consortium Council.

Dr. Aleksandra Kuczyńska-Zonik - Researcher


Assistant professor at the Institute of Political Science and Administration at the Catholic University of Lublin and head of the Department of the Baltics at the Institute of Central Europe. Holding a PhD in social sciences in political science and a PhD in humanities in archaeology, her research focuses on politics and security in Central and Eastern Europe and the post-Soviet space, particularly concerning the Baltic States and the Russian minority.

Dr. Olga Smalej-Kołodziej - Researcher


Academic staff member at the Department of Research Methods in Management at the Faculty of Economics, UMCS. Her interests include market research, young consumer behaviour, e-marketing, and demographics. She leads research projects in the field of market and public opinion research.

 

Dr. Wojciech Szczerbowicz - Researcher


An international relations specialist and PhD candidate at the Institute of International and Security Studies at the University of Wrocław. His research is focused on regionalisation and regionalism in the Arctic. He is also a member of the Polar Regions Research Section of the Polish International Studies Association.

Dr. Damian Szacawa - Researcher


Assistant professor at the Department of International Political Relations, UMCS, and a senior analyst in the Department of the Baltics at the Institute of Central Europe. His expertise lies in international cooperation and regional governance systems, especially in the Baltic Sea region.

 

Dr. Kamil Filipek - Researcher


A data scientist and sociologist, he directs the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Computational Modeling at UMCS. His research involves implementing artificial intelligence methods in natural language processing (NLP) and examining the impact of digital technologies on contemporary societies.
