Between 1982 and 1987 she studied history at the Higher School of Pedagogy in Kielce. She defended her doctoral thesis in 1997 at the Institute of History of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw. She obtained her postdoctoral degree in 2010. In 2021, by the decision of the President of the Republic of Poland, she received the academic title of professor.
She was director of the Institute of History (2012-2020) and dean of the Faculty of Humanities (2020-2024) of the Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce. Member of the Committee of Historical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences for the term 2020-2023. Rector of the Jan Kochanowski University for the term 2024-2028.
In her scientific work and publications, she addresses research topics related to medieval medicine, church punishments in medieval Poland, canon law, medieval religiosity, medieval fauna, and regional history. She has written over 130 different types of scientific works, including four monographs. She has published in Polish, Czech, Slovak, German, Canadian, Finnish, and Dutch scientific journals and publications. She has presented the results of her research at dozens of national and international conferences. She is a co-editor of twenty monographs.
