PhD Student possition

Name of the unit: Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science, Maria-Curie Sklodowska University in Lublin

Job title: Scholarship holder-PhD student for the research project "Epitaxial silicene as a platform for hydrogen storage in the solid phase" implemented as part of the OPUS NCN competition under the supervision of prof. Mariusz Krawiec.

Requirements:

  • status of a doctoral student at the beginning of participation in the project and during the implementation of tasks in the project,
  • completed master's studies in the field of physics, chemistry, materials engineering or related fields,
  • basic knowledge of surface physics and chemistry,
  • knowledge of English in speech and writing,
  • commitment and strong motivation to conduct scientific research,
  • ability to work independently and in a team.

Additional requirements: experience with Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) systems will be considered a strong asset.

Task description: As part of the research tasks in the OPUS 23 project entitled "Epitaxial silicene as a platform for hydrogen storage in the solid phase" the scholarship holder will be required to: topography and spectroscopy measurements using a scanning tunneling microscope.

Conditions of employment:

Place of research tasks: Department of Surface Physics and Nanostructures, Institute of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science, Maria Curie-Sklodowska University in Lublin

The remuneration is paid in the form of a research scholarship from April 1, 2025 for 22 months (PLN 4,000/month).

List of required documents:

  • CV or scientific curriculum vitae, including previous scientific achievements or work experience in other research projects,
  • cover letter,
  • onfirmation of obtaining a master's degree or confirmation of the status of a doctoral student,
  • the opinion and consent of the doctoral thesis supervisor to participate in research in the indicated project or the opinion of the current scientific supervisor,
  • a statement of knowledge of the English language or a certificate.
