We are pleased to announce that the special guest of the conference will be:
Professor Andrea Guzman, Department of Communication, Northern Illinois University.
The keynote speech by prof. Andrea Guzman (Northern Illinois University) will be focussed on: The Human-Machine Relationship in an Age of Artificial Intelligence. Prof. A. Guzman explains that:
Recent advances in artificial intelligence are raising pressing questions for media and communication scholars. While previous technologies may have been thought of as extensions of humans (and their power), AI applications are increasingly taking on capabilities once assigned primarily to humans and stepping into human-like roles. The result has been the upending of the ontological underpinnings of communication and media theory and of the relationship between humans and machines, technology and culture. Within the course of this talk, I explain how theory and research within Human-Machine Communication has started to address these challenges and develop a foundation for wrestling with these fundamental philosophical, theoretical, and methodological questions surrounding the entangled layers of human and machine agency and their implications for individuals and society.
Keynote speech will be given at the Mediatization Conference 6, 2025, 7 March 2025 (Lublin/Hybrid/Ms Teams). For more information please visit: https://www.umcs.pl/en/ms-registration.htm
