On August 11, 2022 Dr. Paweł Pasierbiak was a speaker at the Jefferson Educational Society (www.jeserie.org) - an American think tank promoting the development of the Erie region in Pennsylvania, USA. Together with Dr. Bruce A. Kibler (Gannon University, Erie, USA) they presented their research on Lublin and Erie. The speech entitled Erie, PA and Lublin, Poland: Opportunities and Threats in a Changing World Economy was broadcast live on Facebook.
The webinar was another initiative undertaken by Dr. Paweł Pasierbiak and Dr. Bruce A. Kibler, aimed at promoting academic cooperation between representatives of Lublin and Erie communities (these cities have been sister cities since 1999).
In 2016 in Erie, both scientists gave a lecture entitled Erie, PA, and Lublin, PL Sister Cities, an Economic Development Comparison, and in 2017 they published a scientific article on this issue. Cooperation also involves academic exchange between UMCS and Gannon University. With the support of the Erasmus+ program, academics from both institutions conduct classes for students at the partner university.
