UMCS Foreign Languages Teaching and Certification Centre

The UMCS Board for Language Proficiency Certification was appointed by UMCS Vice Rector for Education under the UMCS Rector’s Order No. 7/2013 of 31 January 2013 on the organization of foreign languages education and certification of languages proficiency at UMCS.

Pursuant to the Order, UMCS students have to demonstrate language proficiency in the areas of science and disciplines typical of their field of study at least at the following level:

• CEFR B2 – for first-degree (bachelor’s degree) studies  ,
• CEFR B2+ –for second-degree (master’s degree) studies,
• CEFR B2+ – for uniform master’s degree studies.

At the same time, in all the foregoing cases, the condition for standardized certification of language proficiency of students must be met in accordance with the requirements of the Law on Higher Education and the guidelines of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
