Weronika Machała - PhD student at the Doctoral School of Social Sciences

She is aPhD student at the Doctoral School of Social Sciences at UMCS specializing in social communication and media sciences. Graduated of bachelor's and master's studies in the field of "media production" at the Faculty of Political Science and Journalism at UMCS. In 2020, her bachelor's thesis Postmodernism and the Ethos of America. A Dispute over Values ​​in the Cinema of the 90s won the competition for the best work written in the field.

Recipient of the UMCS Rector's scholarship for the best students (2022) and the Scholarship of the Minister of Education and Science for significant scientific achievements (2023). Author of scientific publications on the history of American film. Winner of the 2nd prize in the "educational film" category at the International XXXVI Catholic Film and Multimedia Festival. She is also author and co-author of documentaries, reports and radio broadcasts. Her research interests include film theory and history, as well as the theory and philosophy of culture, with a particular emphasis on film representations of contemporary understandings of identity. Privately, she is a fan of classic westerns, archaic music, and English fiction.
