From May 9 to 10, at the invitation of prof. Wojciech Zgłobicki was hosted at the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Spatial Management by Dr. Estela Nadal Romero (Instituto Pirenaico de Ecologia, Spain), an internationally recognized geographer and geomorphologist. Dr. Romero presented a paper during an open meeting for employees and students entitled: "Badlands: from science to geotourism". In it, she presented the results of many years of research she had conducted in the Spanish badlands. She indicated the typology and dynamics of geomorphological processes shaping these specific areas. Issues related to ways to limit the rate of degradation of badlands areas as well as the possibilities of their geotourist use were discussed. After the presentation, there was a discussion attended by, among others, prof. Irena A. Pidek, prof. Jean Poesen, prof. Wojciech Zglobicki. |
