Robert Firmhofer - director of the Copernicus Science Centre

Historian of philosophy. Founder and General Director of the Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw. Co-founder and organizer of the Science Picnic – the largest outdoor event in Europe dedicated to science communication. President of the board of ECSITE – the European Network of Science Centres and Museums (2011–2013).

Member of the Board of Directors of ASTC – the American Association of Science and Technology Centres (since 2017). Member of the Board of the Society and Science Association SPiN. Expert of the European Commission. Member of the Council for the Dissemination of Science of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Program Council of the United Nations Global Compact Network Poland, CERN Science Gateway Advisory Committee, the Board of Trustees of the Deutsches Museum, Ciencia Viva Advisory Council, and many other boards of international organizations.

He has been involved in science communication for years. Winner of the prestigious Hugo Steinhaus Award for outstanding achievements in this field (1998). He was awarded the Officer's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (2012), the Medal of the Centenary of Regained Independence - Polonia Rediviva (2022) and the French National Order of Merit (2014).
