Fabio Pollice (Ph.D. in Political Geography) is Full Professor of Economics and Political Geography at the University of Salento. He previously taught at the Universities of Napoli “Federico II” and Roma “La Sapienza”. Since November 2019, he is Rector of the University of Salento. In 2023 has received from the Riga Technical University the title of Doctor Honoris Causa. In the same year has received the title of Doctor Honoris Causa from The George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science, and Technology of Targu Mures.
From 2016 to 2019, he was the Director of the DSSSU Department of History, Society and Human Studies at the University of Salento and in the previous three years was Coordinator of the Doctorate Degree Course in Human and Social Sciences at the same university, from 2014 to 2016.
He is a member of the scientific committee of the CUEBC (Centro Universitario Europeo per i Beni Culturali - European University Center for Cultural Heritage) as well as in Eurispes (Istituto di Studi Politici,
Economici e Sociali) and Fondazione “La Notte della Taranta”.
He is in the Board of directors of the CMCC, Mediterranean Centre in Climate Change. In 2016 founded the Placetelling® School and is its director. He deals with topics of economic geography applied with particular regard to the issues related to territorial development and local-global relations with insights on the relationship between tourism and culture and the role of culture in local development processes.
He is the author of over 150 national and international scientific publications.
