Blind and visually impaired people have limited access to art on a daily basis. Some museums are beginning to adapt their exhibitions to this group of recipients, and these activities will certainly develop in the future. Institute of Fine Arts WA UMCS as part of scientific researchand artistic activity implements the project Touch of art, addressed to people with sight impairment.
Young people with sight impairments were present at the opening. Thanks to their openness, we were able to learn about their perception of works, which will certainly allow us to create even more valuable art in the future having in mind this target group.
The exhibition is part of this project, which will present paintings, objects and installations that will be known by touch. The Institute of Fine Arts is planning further activities in the field of art, aimed at blind and visually impaired people, the effects of which will be presented in future exhibitions, workshops and publications summarizing the next stages of the project.
