On 5th of February in Centre for the Meeting of Cultures a vernissage of PhD. Sebastian Smit's exhibition took place. The exhibition will be available for visitors in Temporary Exhibitions Gallery (level -1) until 7th of March 2021.
The presented works are a relationship between the written word and the place and objects gathered in it.
A set table with plates filled with the "black milk of the morning", photos of people who were at the table before - an absolute experience of silence and loneliness.
The second part of the exhibition is an endless surface of undulating blackness - an undefined structure, audible noise of air and flickering matter. Around me, there are photos of people facing downwards, and vessels filled with black liquid - the impression of being absent from the surrounding reality - nothingness. There is a graph ruled notebook on the floor, every sheet is numbered, each is one day, and there are over 300,000 of them.
The installation ends with large-format typographic compositions.
