On June 22, 2023, the well-known Tanzanian columnist Charles Makakala and PAP journalists visited UMCS. They were accompanied by Ms. Wiktoria Herun from the Lublin City Hall. The visit to the university was part of a wider study visit organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Tanzania, the Polish Press Agency, the City of Lublin.
At UMCS, he met the Rector's Proxy, Dr. Ewelina Panas, Prof. Grzegorz Wójcik from the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science and Dr. Konrad Czernichowski from the Faculty of Economics (all three visited Tanzania earlier this year), as well as students and a PhD student from Tanzania. He was curious why UMCS is the most attractive public university in Poland for his compatriots.
In addition to Lublin, where he visited the German Nazi concentration camp Majdanek, the Old Town, the Castle and the city hall ("Study in Lublin" program was one of the points of his interest), he also visited Warsaw, Gdańsk and the German concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.
The fruits of the study visit are two columns in the widely read Tanzanian daily "The Citizen":
The Polish Embassy in Tanzania also informed about the visit on their website:
