On November 9, 2023, at Jordan University College in Morogoro, Tanzania (UMCS's partner university), recruitment for students' mobility to the Faculty of Economics under the Erasmus + program was carried out. 13 students applied for three places.
The committee consisted of six lecturers (including Dr. Konrad Czernichowski from UMCS Faculty of Economics). The students individually answered two questions - the first one about microeconomics, and the second one about a selected issue from the assigned reading ("About Polska"). The winners of the competition were Fredy Byamungu (marketing student), Esther Muga (accountance and finance student) and Emmanuel Humba (economics). The committee was particularly impressed by Fredy, whose knowledge of the history and tourist attractions of Kraków provoked Dr. John Tlegray (he was twice at the Faculty of Economics of UMCS) to ask him whether he had already been to Kraków. He knew not only about Wawel, St. Mary's Basilica and Kazimierz, but also in which year and who moved the capital of Poland to Warszawa. When he started talking about Neptune in Gdańsk, the Naval Museum in Gdynia and Sopot, the chairman of the committee had to interrupt him because the recruitment would take too long.
The three students have already started applying for passports and visas. They will come to Lublin for the spring semester. Congratulations!
