On August 30, 2024, first-year Business Analytics student Cleophas Charles from Tanzania defeated International Master Dawid Czerw during a chess exhibition event he hosted. IM Dawid Czerw is a well-known and popular YouTuber promoting chess. The exhibition event took place a day before the 1000-person Tournament at the Hobby 2024 Fair in the Lublin Fair hall. It was the largest chess event in the history of Lublin, with players from seven countries participating. It was also attended by three grandmasters (GM Alexei Shirov – once number two in the world, GM Mateusz Bartel and GM Igor Janik) and woman grandmaster WGM Michalina Rudzińska, as well as nine international masters. In this tournament, Cleophas took 229th place with 6.5 points, which means that he was better than 75% of the players.
