SUMMARY
Virtual Reality (VR) is now what World Wide Web was in 1995. We are witnessing a range of experimentations with different interaction models, interfaces and content as designers try to come up with the best ways for making use of HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Gear VR etc.

The aim of this lecture is to examine the design and interaction models implemented in apps for using personal computers in a VR environment — accessing files, viewing content and playing games through a VR headset.

qiOculus or HTC did not invent VR. People have experimented with VR for decades and today's VR systems do not significantly differ from the prototypes designed by artists and entrepreneurs in 1980s and early 1990s. However, media and industry try to position VR platforms as new and desired platforms, which will soon replace personal computers and mobile devices. Are we, not only technologically, but conceptually and socially, ready for that?
