Long-time local government official, elected four times by residents as the Mayor of Lublin. He has held this position continuously since 2010. Doctor of Economics, researcher and teacher at Lublin universities, author and co-author of over 70 publications and scientific monographs. He began working for local government in 1990. In the years 1990-1996 he was the chairman of the Świdnik City Council, and in 2006-2007 was the deputy mayor of Lublin. In the years 2007-2009 he was the Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of State Treasury. He is the Co-Chairman of the Joint Government and Territorial Self-Government Commission and the Co-Chairman of the Team for the Public Finance System of the KWRiST (Government and Local Government Joint Commission), a member of the Council of the Foundation of the Polish Metropolises Union and the Management Board of the Foundation of the Polish Metropolises Union. In the years 2011-2024 he was the vice-president of the Union of Polish Cities (ZMP), and is currently a member of the Management Board of the ZMP. He is also a member of the Monitoring Committee of the European Funds for Lublin 2021-2027 program on behalf of the Union of Polish Metropolises.
Since the beginning of his work for Lublin, Krzysztof Żuk has consistently implemented the city's development plan, focusing on economic recovery and improving the quality of life of its residents, and has also been committed to supporting the development of academic Lublin. Thanks to his activity, Lublin's accessibility to transport has improved significantly, important cultural facilities have been revitalized, and modern infrastructure and sports and recreational facilities have been created. Thanks to the investment offensive, Lublin has entered the path of long-term and sustainable development, regaining its position as the leader of Eastern Poland.
Winner of many decorations, awards and distinctions, including the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, the Officer's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, the Honorary Badge for Merit for Local Government, the Order of Ukraine "For Merit" (III degree), the Educational Medal "Local Government Official of the 30th Anniversary", and the award of the Polish Ecumenical Council.
