Lublin Science Festival is the largest cyclical event popularizing science in the Lublin region and the neighbouring regions, and due to the number of participants, it is among the top three largest science festivals in Poland. The main goal of the LFN is to disseminate, promote and popularize science and research in society. The event is organized by five public universities in Lublin: Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, Medical University, University of Life Sciences, Lublin University of Technology and Lublin City Hall. In addition, every year, other scientific research and public institutions from the entire Lublin and Podkarpacie provinces join the organization of the LFN.
The XVII Lublin Science Festival will be held on September 18-24, 2021, under the watchword "Science without borders. Enjoy science! ”. The slogan of the festival refers to the joy of discovering the world of science, crossing multidimensional boundaries, as well as international and intercultural communication in the field of science, art, culture and new technologies, while at the same time being the first step towards implementing the ambitious internationalization plans of the LFN in the next few years. Thanks to the funding obtained under the "Social Responsibility of Science" program and the "Popularization of science and promotion of sport" module of the Minister of Education and Science, this vision can be realized.
This year, the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, acting as the main leader of the 17th LFN, plans to implement a program that is groundbreaking in the history of the festival, which includes, among others, LFN Science Picnic on the Theater Square in front of the Centre for the Meeting of Cultures in Lublin, during which an attempt will be made to break the Guinness Record for the greatest polymer, artistic, cultural and popular science events, including meetings with world-renowned science popularizers, an international scientific symposium for students and young scientists from all over Europe and competitions for preschool children, primary and secondary school students, students and adults.
According to tradition, the most important point of the program is individual projects of universities and other co-organizers disseminating, promoting and popularizing science and research. Due to the current epidemic situation, this year's edition of the Lublin Science Festival will take place in a hybrid formula - some projects and events will be carried out online, while others will be carried out in a traditional form while maintaining the sanitary regime.
About 300 projects have been submitted to the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, including 120 online and 50 in English and other foreign languages. By the Organizing Committee's decision, projects under the 17th LFN can be submitted by the end of August this year. We cordially invite research and teaching staff, students of 1st and 2nd-degree studies, full-time studies and doctoral and postgraduate students, and student research clubs and student organizations to actively join the organization of the 17th LFN.
On 5th July this year. at. 17:17:17 it will be possible to book places for projects submitted so far under the 17th LFN for all those who want to participate in the event. We sincerely hope that soon we will meet again within the university's walls to discover the sources of joy coming from discovering the fascinating world of science! See you in September.
