This October, 50 selected students from all over the world were chosen to participate in the Global Business Symposium in Atlanta which accompanied the AIB US-SE annual conference. Prof. Paweł Pasierbiak and dr Monika Wojtas were also invited to the event in recognition of their efforts in organizing the X-Culture Global Business Week hosted by Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in July 2023.
This year's client company was YKK USA - a producer of zippers for US-manufactured garments (primarily US military uniforms & backpacks and industrial uniforms) and US-manufactured cars (there are zippers in the car seats). YKK has 95% of the US zipper business. The task for the students was to come up with new business ideas for the company's factory in Georgia.
The professors, including The Chair's representatives, were invited to be judges during the competition and offer feedback to the teams, which they needed before presenting to the CEO of the company.
The programme for the professors also included lectures as well as workshops on how to incorporate X-Culture into the curriculum and networking opportunities.
