On 22 November, at a gala ceremony held at the Congress Centre of the University of Life Sciences in Lublin, our University was awarded in the XXII edition of the "Crystal Brick" competition.
Maria Curie-Skłodowska University took second place in the category of Public Utility Facilities for the investment: UMCS Recreation Center in Kazimierz Dolny.
During the gala, a commemorative statuette for our University was received by UMCS Chancellor – Grażyna Elżbieta Fiok. Also present at the event were employees of the UMCS Investment and Renovation Department.
In the brick building of the UMCS Recreation Center in Kazimierz Dolny, a comprehensive renovation has recently been carried out, starting from the structure to thermomodernization. Green areas were revitalized, and heating, ventilation, and fire protection systems were modernized. The facility was adapted to current technical and utility requirements, and the quality of finishing works significantly raised its functional standard.
The idea behind the "Crystal Brick" competition is to stimulate economic, business, and civic activities in Eastern European regions by promoting and documenting initiatives related to the development of regional infrastructure, construction, and architecture. The organizers of the competition aim to promote the best investments and reward exemplary practices in construction, taking into account environmental protection. The organizer of this year's edition of the competition was the Polish Housing Society in Lublin.
We would also like to remind you that this is not the first distinction of our University in this competition. The “Crystal Brick” title can also be claimed by, among others: the buildings of the Institute of Pedagogy of the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology, the Faculty of Political Science and Journalism, the Analytical and Programme Centre for Advanced Environmentally Friendly Technologies ECOTECH-COMPLEX, or the buildings of the UMCS Chatka Żaka Academic Centre of Culture and Media and the "Trójka" Academic Canteen.
