On October 26th, 2023, the Rector of Maria Curie Sklodowska University, Prof. R. Dobrowolski, signed an agreement with the Embassy of the United States of America in Poland to establish American Corner, UMCS Education and Business Center. The mission of the American Corner is to provide open and free access to information on the USA in Lublin and the Lublin region and to foster cooperation between the Poles and the Americans in education and business. The broad spectrum of services and activities will include meetings, lectures, educational counseling, workshops aimed at students and secondary school pupils, etc. Thanks to its location in the Academic Center for Culture and Media - Chatka Żaka, American Corner also hopes to organize a wide range of cultural activities.
Representatives of American Studies at MCSU – dr Anna Bendrat and dr hab. Małgorzata Rutkowska – have been invited to participate in the process of designing the Corner’s program and activities.
American Corner will be officially opened in March 2024.
