The new academic year is a time for new diplomatic talks and guests from new continents! We are back with another edition of "Diplomatic talks" - a series of meetings with ambassadors of foreign countries, during which we discuss contemporary international relations.
This academic year's edition of the talks will be inaugurated with a unique event. For the first time, the guest of Diplomatic talks will be a representative of an African country - H.E. Stephen Mubiru, Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to Poland based in Berlin. The Ambassador will give a lecture entitled “Uganda’s Foreign Policy Perspectives in the Rapidly Changing World and Growing Importance of the Global South”. The meeting will be led by prof. dr hab. Marek Pietraś, director of the Institute of International Relations at UMCS. Date: 21st of November at 10:00 a.m. (please arrive half an hour before the start of the meeting) Location: auditorium A.1.16, Faculty of Political Science and Journalism at UMCS (Głęboka 45 Street, Lublin) Event programme: ambassador's lecture, Q&A session. Meeting language: English. About the Ambassador:Current Role: H.E. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Berlin, Germany, since 2022. Place of Birth: Uganda Education: Bsc in Animal Health and Production Ambassador Stephen Mubiru began his career in 1989 as a Veterinary Assistant in Uganda's Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries. Over the years, he has held key roles such as Animal Husbandry Officer, Assistant Farm Manager, and Coordinator of the Namwendwa Dairy Farmers' Association. Ambassador Mubiru has also been actively involved in agricultural advocacy through his work with the Eastern and Southern Africa Small Scale Farmers Forum (ESAFF), promoting agricultural development and farmers' rights. With a robust background in agriculture and extensive diplomatic experience, Ambassador Mubiru is dedicated to serving Uganda and advancing its interests internationally. His current role as Ambassador to Germany underscores his commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between Uganda and its global partners. The event is organized by the Institute of International Relations at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University. |
