On 12-13 May 2023, the meetings in Ireland were held. The 'Polonia Meetings Dublin' were organised by the National Academic Agency for the Academic Exchange. Poles constitute the largest national minority in Ireland. The largest number of Poles live in Dublin. The Polish language has been on the curriculum for Irish secondary schools since 2020, and there are 60 Polish schools in Ireland.
As part of the initiative, some meetings were organized at Ireland's oldest university, Trinity College Dublin, with representatives of the Polish diaspora in Ireland, who are also the employees of the Global Engagement TCD office.
The following day, we has an opportunity to meet Polish youth, their parents and principals and teachers from the three largest Polish schools in Ireland. The UMCS presented its educational offer, the possibility of free studies in Polish for the Polish community and the opportunities for personal and professional development of students during their studies. Fruitful discussions also took place at the Polish House with representatives of Polish organisations in Ireland. The UMCS was represented by the Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs and Quality of Education, prof. Dorota Kolodyńska, dr Taras Bondarenko and mgr Monika Piątek from the UMCS Admissions Office.
