of Maria Curie-Sklodowska University in Lublin

announces a competition for the position of an Assistant in the group of research and teaching staff 

at the Department of Virology and Immunology of the Institute of Biological Sciences,

Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology

 

The competition may be entered by individuals who meet the requirements specified in the Act on Higher Education and Science of July 20, 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 742) and in the UMCS Statute of May 29, 2019, as amended.

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA OF THE COMPETITION:

 −         a master’s degree in biology or biotechnology;

−         research and teaching aptitude, confirmed by the opinion of an independent research and teaching employee

−          scientific achievements in the field of immunology, including in international  journals;

−         very good, practical knowledge of immunology and virology confirmed by publications:

−         confirmed active participation in scientific life (participation in scientific conferences, courses, obtained scholarships, grants, patents, awards, distinctions, scientific cooperation);

−         organizational experience;

−         practical knowledge of methods used in research using various research models in in vitro conditions, with particular emphasis on work with animal and human cell cultures (normal and cancerous);

−         practical knowledge of immunological and virological research methods, including operation of a fluorescence microscope, tests (LDH, MTT, BrdU, NRU), operation of a flow cytometer (analysis of the cell cycle, types of cell death, DCFDA, DAF2DA), determination of the antioxidant potential of compounds (FRAP test and DPPH), in vitro cell culture and analysis methods, in vitro cell staining methods, immunocytochemical methods, protein electrophoresis, western blotting;

−         practical knowledge of genetic and biochemical methods (plasmid construction, transformation/transduction of biological systems, HPLC protein purification);

−         fluency in the Polish language, spoken and written;

−         good command of spoken and written English;

−         knowledge of programs for editing scientific and research works (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CorelDraw);

−         ability to use statistical programs (STATISTICA, SIGMA-PLOT);

−         ability to work in a team.

  CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 ⎯         employment under a fixed-term employment contract from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2026 full-time, in the main place of work.

The deadline for submitting documents is July 29, 2024.

The competition will be settled no later than by September 20, 2024.

 

The candidate selected in the competition, prior to entering into an employment relationship, is obliged to provide the originals or copies or certified true copies of the documents referred to in in point II of this announcement, to the address indicated in point IV.

 

The University does not provide housing.

The conclusion of the competition does not result in establishing an employment relationship. The final decision on employment is made by the Rector. The University reserves the right to close the competition without adjudication.

Candidates are required to provide data in the scope resulting from Article 22 of the Labour Code and specific provisions concerning employment in a given position. The collected personal data will not be sold or made available to third parties, except for those authorized under the law, nor will they be transferred to third countries or international organizations, contrary to the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation.

The data will be processed by UMCS during the recruitment period, and in the case of data processed on the basis of consent, until a possible objection is raised or consent is withdrawn, and after that time for archival purposes, in accordance with UMCS procedures, as well as for the purposes and for the period and in to the extent required by law to secure any claims.

⎯         the candidate's statement that he consents to the processing of personal data, in accordance with art. 6 sec. 1 lit. a) Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation personal data).
