Conference MODERN HUMANITIES - THEORY OR PRACTICE ? 9-10 May 2025

We invite students from all fields of study in the humanities to participate in the international student conference: MODERN HUMANITIES - THEORY OR PRACTICE? which will take place on 9-10 May 2025 at the Faculty of Philology UMCS.

We invite all HUMANISTS, undergraduate and postgraduate students to present their scientific interests and the status of their research conducted as part of their semester, diploma or master's thesis in the foreign language of their field of study and in Polish.

The conference topics include issues from the following fields and disciplines:

- linguistics, including: translation studies, comparatistics, communication and discourse; pragmatics, morpho-composition, semantics, glottodidactics and history of language;

- sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, ethnolinguistics and others;

- literary studies, including history of literature, literary theory and literary criticism;

- cultural and religious studies, including cultural studies, socio-cultural anthropology, theatre studies and new media studies;

- history.

The presentation of the students' scientific papers will take place in language sections and groups according to the chosen scientific discipline. Each section will be moderated by a researcher of the Faculty of Philology and the Faculty of History and Archaeology of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. All participants will receive certificates of participation in the conference.

Conference venue: Faculty of Philology, UMCS in Lublin, Pl. Marii Curie-Skłodowskiej 4a

Conference language: Polish/English/German/Spanish/French/Russian/Ukrainian etc. as requested:

  • papers in foreign languages will be held in a hybrid format
  • papers in Polish will be held stationary

Duration of presentation: 15 minutes + 5 minutes of discussion

Application deadline: 26 April 2025 via the submission form at www.kng.umcs.lublin.pl.

Conference participants have the opportunity to publish their papers in the peer-reviewed journal Reflections. Students' Scientific Papers UMCS (ISSN 2956-5138) (www.reflections.umcs.pl).
