On 2 December 2024, the Faculty of Chemistry of the UMCS held the inaugural meeting of an international educational project entitled ‘Improving teaching competencies in design of new generation biomaterials from wood waste’ (BIOMAT) funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ programme “Cooperation partnerships in higher education (KA220-HED)”.
The meeting was held in an online format via the UMCS Virtual Campus platform. It was attended by the staff of the Faculty of Chemistry (Prof. dr hab. Beata Podkościelna, dr hab. Monika Wawrzkiewicz, Dr hab. Anna Wołowicz, Dr Marta Goliszek-Chabros, Dr Przemysław Podkościelny and Dr Łukasz Szajnecki) involved in the project, the staff of the Study and Foreign Student Services Office (mgr Karolina Sokolińska, mgr Patrycja Kuryś, and mgr Oleksandr Shtanhret) and the Partners (Dr Olena Sevastyanova and Prof. Jadranka Blazhevska-Gilev) from Sweden and Macedonia.
The inaugural meeting was also attended by the Vice- Rector for Students and Quality of Education, Prof. dr hab. Dorota Kołodyńska, and the Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry, dr hab. Beata Cristóvao, who congratulated the participants on receiving financial support from the Erasmus+ programme and wished them fruitful cooperation with the project partners, as well as success in its implementation. At the same time, they declared their support for the activities undertaken in the project at every stage of its implementation.
