On Saturday, April 13th 2019, first event scheduled under the banner of “Multicultural days at UMCS” took place - “Asian Countries and Polish Traditions”.The main aim of the meeting was to enrich the knowledge and perception of participants in the area of various cultures, traditions and customs.
During the first part of the meeting international students - coming from countries such as India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Philippines - prepared and showcased a series of presentations, artistic performances and short videos pertaining to the cultures of countries of their origin. The presentations were also accompanied by different types of workshops e.g henna painting and cooking to allow the participants to learn more about the cultures of Asian countries in more practical manner.
The international students, PhD candidates and members of the University staff were also presented with an opportunity to familiarize themselves with Polish culture, tradition and customs through thorough presentation. Furthermore the participants had an opportunity to paint and decorate their own Easter Egg.
The Project Team would like to thank all guests for coming and participation in the said event.
The event was organized as a part of task no. 9 Multicultural Days at UMCS under the project „Foreigners @ UMCS – a comprehensive set of actions and systemic solutions focused on institutional improvement and strengthening of UMCS in servicing international students and staff” within the framework of “Welcome to Poland” programme organized by National Agency for Academic Exchange.
