RECTOR
OF MARIA CURIE-SKŁODOWSKA UNIVERSITY IN LUBLIN
announces a competition for the position of Assistant Professor in the research and teaching staff group in the Department of International Political Relations at the Institute of International Relations of the Faculty of Political Science and Journalism, UMCS.
Eligible candidates must meet the requirements specified in the Act on Higher Education and Science of July 20, 2018 (consolidated text: Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, as amended) and in the UMCS Statute of May 29, 2019, as amended.
I. QUALIFICATION CRITERIA FOR THE COMPETITION:
- possession of a doctoral degree in the field of social sciences (discipline: international relations, political science, and administration).
- significant scientific achievements in the field of international relations and international security, with particular emphasis on cybersecurity.
- scientific output in the form of monographs, scientific articles, or chapters in collective works, including achievements after obtaining a doctoral degree.
- documented teaching experience, evidenced by a list of theoretical and methodological courses taught to students.
- organizational achievements.
- active participation in scientific life (conferences, research projects, research teams, various types of grants).
- fluent knowledge of English, both spoken and written, and fluent knowledge of a second foreign language.
II. APPLICATION FOR THE COMPETITION SHOULD INCLUDE:
- an application addressed to the Rector of UMCS.
- a copy of the doctoral diploma.
- a personal questionnaire and resume or CV.
- a list of scientific publications.
- a list of scientific, didactic, and organizational achievements.
- a statement of compliance with the requirements of Article 113 of the Act on Higher Education and Science of July 20, 2018 (consolidated text: Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, as amended).
- a declaration by the candidate that UMCS will be their primary place of work.
- a declaration by the candidate consenting to the processing of personal data in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) of the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of April 27, 2016, on the protection of natural persons concerning the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation).
- references, and an opinion on the candidate's aptitude for research and teaching work.
III. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- employment under a fixed-term employment contract from October 1, 2025, to September 30, 2026, full-time, in the primary place of work.

The competition will be settled by June 10, 2025.
The selected candidate must provide originals or copies certified as true copies of the documents mentioned in point II of this announcement to the address specified in point IV before establishing an employment relationship.
The University does not provide housing.
The competition's outcome does not result in an employment relationship.
The final employment decision is made by the Rector.
The University reserves the right to close the competition without selecting a candidate.

A person applying for recruitment is obliged to provide data to the extent resulting from Article 22 1 KP and specific provisions concerning employment for a given position. Providing data beyond what is required by law is voluntary. The legal basis for data processing is the law and consent concerning data beyond the scope required by law.
Based on Article 7(3) of the General Data Protection Regulation, in relation to data beyond the scope provided by law, the person whose data concerns has the right to withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.
According to Articles 15-21 and Article 77 of the General Data Protection Regulation, the person whose data concerns has the right to access data, rectify it, delete it or limit its processing, and the right to object to processing, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority, as well as the right to data portability. The collected personal data will not be sold or shared with third parties, except those authorized by law, and will not be transferred to third countries or international organizations, contrary to the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation.
Data will be processed by UMCS during the recruitment period, and in the case of data processed based on consent, until any objection is raised or consent is withdrawn, and thereafter for archival purposes, in accordance with UMCS procedures, and for purposes and periods required by law to secure potential claims.
The recipients of personal data may be entities authorized under the law and entities processing personal data on behalf of the Administrator, based on a data processing agreement.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority - the President of the Office for Personal Data Protection (ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warsaw).
The data you provide will not be processed for automated decision-making, including profiling.
