December 13, 2024, 12:00–17:30 Where? room A.3.20 - Institute of International Relations (45 Głęboka St., Lublin) The conference continues the workshop and is dedicated to finalizing the research undertaken by the group of scholars from the UMCS and international scholars who collaborated with them. The UMCS group members will present their research and discuss it with international experts. The conference will be organized as a sequence of round-table discussions. |

Mnemonic Actors | 12.00 – 13.30 Kick-off speaker: Georgiy Kasianov (UMCS) This round-table focuses on analyzing the roles, interests, and agenda of major memory actors, including specialized institutions, state bodies, non-governmental organizations, media, memory activists, and others. Coffee Break | 13.30 – 13.45 Round-table 2. Mnemonics Actions | 13.45 – 15.15 Kick-off speaker: Per AndersRudling (Lund University) This round-table will analyze the activities of the mnemonic actors, such as the elaboration and implementation of policies, societal effects, and impact on domestic and international politics. Lunch Break | 15.15 – 15.45 Round-table 3. Scholarship and Mnemopolitics | 15.45 – 17.15 Kick-off speaker: Stefan Berger (Ruhr University) Participants will discuss the interaction between scholarship and the politics of memory, exploring questions such as: To what extent is academic expertise used and misused by the state, politicians, and social actors? What are the limits of academic freedom? How does scholarship align with knowledge production needs and societal requests? Concluding remarks | 17.15 – 17.30
