Join us to learn about and celebrate Juneteenth! Juneteenth is a U.S. national holiday observed on June 19 that memorializes the end of slavery. While Juneteenth was first celebrated only in Texas and surrounding areas, in recent years it has become more widely recognized, finally being declared a national holiday by President Biden in 2021. Our guests are Darlene Conley and Renee Spears. Conley is a graduate of Morgan State University and teaches history at Anne Arundel Community College. Spears is a teacher in Annapolis, Maryland where she also works as a community organizer.
