Guests from Tanzania - May 2023

On May 17th, 2023, a meeting was held between lecturers from Jordan University College in Morogoro, Tanzania, and representatives of the Faculty of Economics of the UMCS with Prof. Wieslaw Gruszecki, Vice-Rector for Science and International Cooperation.

The meeting was attended by:

1. Prof. Wieslaw Gruszecki, Vice-Rector for Science and International Cooperation

2. Dr Raphael Habi, Dean of Faculty of Commerce, Jordan University College (JUCo), Morogoro, Tanzania; senior lecturer in the Department of Business Studies at the university; former lecturer at Mzumbe University in Morogoro; former chairman of the Council of the College of Business Education in Tanzania; held an internship in Norway

3. Dr John Boamo Tlegray, Head of the Department of Finance and Accounting, Faculty of Commerce, JUCo, Morogoro, Tanzania; did his PhD in India

4. Dr  hab. Mariusz Kicia - Dean of the Faculty of Economics, UMCS

5. Dr Konrad Czernichowski - Assistant Professor in the Department of World Economy and European Integration at UMCS and Visiting Professor at JUCo since 2019; initiator of the cooperation between UMCS and JUCo, which he visited for the first time in 2017.

 

The purpose of the meeting was to sign implementing protocols to the framework agreement between UMCS and JUCo (still signed by Rector Stanislaw Michalowski). These annexes will govern the details of the collaboration between the Faculty of Economics of UMCS and the Faculty of Commerce JUCo.

This is the second time that Dr Raphael Habi and Dr John Tlegray have visited the Faculty of Economics at UMCS as part of the Erasmus+ programme. For one week from 15 May, they have been teaching Erasmus students (Dr Habi - subject "Entrepreneurship. Theory and Practice" - 15 hours; Dr Tlegray - subject "Conceptual framework for financial reporting" - 15 hours). Also flying in with them, also under the Erasmus+ programme, was Mkubya Raphael Wambura, M.Sc., lecturer at the Department of Economics, Mathematics and Statistics, Faculty of Commerce, JUCo; he specializes in agricultural economics. He, in turn, gave lectures to Polish students (lecture "Agricultural Economics" - 3 groups of 2 hours each and lecture "Food Security" - 2 groups of 2 hours each).
