cordially invite you to the expert debate
Wetlands and human wellbeing - Life Interlaced: Chełm Alkaline Fens

organized as part of the

World Wetlands Day 2024 celebrations

Celebrated annually on the anniversary of the adoption of the Ramsar Convention, World Wetlands Day is an excellent opportunity to highlight the key role and importance of wetland areas as global and local climate regulators and water cycle managers, particularly important for the preservation of biodiversity. This year, we wish to focus locally on wetlands, particularly addressing the conservation issues of the highly valuable natural Chełm Alkalaine Fens.
The main goal of the meeting is to create a space for the exchange of knowledge and experience in research, use, threat identification, and challenges related to the effective protection of these ecosystems in the context of complex human-natural environment interactions. We also hope that participation in the World Wetlands Day celebrations will contribute to the establishment and strengthening of cooperation between various institutions and organizations united by the mission to preserve the values and functions of valuable natural wetlands.
The expert debate will take place on February 2nd (Friday), starting at 9:00 AM in the E. Romer Auditorium of the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Spatial Management at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (Lublin, Kraśnicka Ave 2d)
