UMCS with a New Member on the PLOS ONE Editorial Board

We are pleased to announce that Dr. hab. Przemysław Mroczek, Prof. UMCS, has joined the Editorial Board of the prestigious journal PLOS ONE (MNiSzW: 100 points; IF’23: 2.9; CS-hp'23: 89).

The PLOS ONE Editorial Board consists of an international team of active researchers who ensure that innovative, rigorously conducted research is made available as quickly as possible and without restrictions. Academic Editors, as experts in their fields, represent the needs of their community and actively participate in discussions about open access, open data, open science, and peer review. Furthermore, Editors oversee the review process from start to finish, evaluating submissions, selecting reviewers, assessing their feedback, making editorial decisions, and communicating those decisions to authors. They are active participants in their community, representing PLOS ONE.

The Board is committed to PLOS's mission to publish rigorous research from all scientific disciplines. It is open to innovations in scientific publications and the distribution of scientific communication to meet the changing needs of the community. The Board actively works on behalf of its scientific communities, ensuring positive experiences for authors and reviewers. It is eager to contribute ideas and share knowledge to help shape the journal's goals, policies, and development.

The Board adheres to values such as scientific integrity and objectivity, believing that research articles should be evaluated based on their technical soundness rather than their novelty or "fit" with the journal. Openness and transparency are key principles, which is why all articles in PLOS are published under a CC BY license, and the data underlying the research must be fully accessible. The journal is committed to maintaining the highest standards of research and publication ethics, ensuring integrity, accelerating the pace of scientific communication and innovation, minimizing the time from initial submission to publication, and ensuring the speed of the editorial process.
