Sarek National Park in Sweden - invitation to a lecture

We would like to invite you to a co-authored lecture by Dr Piotr Demczuk (Department of Geomorphology and Palaeogeography UMCS) entitled 'The Serek National Park (Northern Sweden)', which he will deliver this Thursday (i.e. 16 March 2023) at 17:15 in the E. Romer Auditorium of the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Spatial Management UMCS.

The lecture will take place as part of the weekly scientific meetings of the Lublin Branch of the Polish Geographical Society and will be in the form of an account of an expedition to the oldest national park in Europe. Sarek National Park is located in the municipality of Jokkmokk in Norrbotten County, Sweden, beyond the Arctic Circle, 50 km from the border with Norway. The speakers will present the beauty of the place, the course of the expedition itself and practical information about travelling to such remote and desolate places. The authors of the lecture:

  • Piotr Demczuk - scientific and didactic employee of our Institute. Passionate about open spaces, untouched by human hand
  • Tomasz Szafran - a graduate of geography at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, currently a doctoral student at the Doctoral School of Natural Sciences at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University. Passionate about adrenaline expeditions, mountain photography and good food. He travels to wild, undiscovered places, far away from the hustle and bustle of tourism.
  • Piotr Urbański - a student of management in public policies and a graduate of geography at Maria Curie-Sklodowska University. Passionate about hiking, cycling and the Nordic countries.
