We would like to present a recent article in which one of the authors is Dr Magdalena Suchora (Department of Geomorphology and Palaeogeography UMCS). Late-Weichselian (Vistulian) environmental changes in NE Poland - Evidence from Lake Suchar Wielki. Catena, 234, 107546. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.catena.2023.107546 The origins of the development of the dystrophic Lake Suchar Wielki (Wigry National Park) and the accompanying local and regional environmental changes were studied by a team of palaeoecologists from the Faculty of Biology, University of Białystok, and INOZiŚ UMCS. Based on the results of palynological and Cladocera analyses, they reconstructed the regional vegetation succession and the Late Glacial-Holocene stage of the lake's development, and - with the support of researchers from the University of Helsinki - made the first quantitative reconstruction in this part of Poland of the mean July temperature based on subphosal Cladocera remains.
