We invite you to view the photo gallery of the lecture by Prof. Dr Jean-Luc Schneider of the University of Bordeaux entitled Sturzstroms: Large-scale debris avalanches in volcanic and mountainous areas. Dynamics and consequences. The lecture took place at the E. Romer Auditorium at the Faculty of Earth and Spatial Sciences of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University on Thursday (26 October 2023). Professor Schneider spoke passionately about geohazards, the frequency of which has been increasing in recent years due to climate change, and the effects and their scale are difficult to predict. As a result, the warning system is ineffective. Members of the Association of Polish Geomorphologists and the Polish Geographical Society joined the online broadcast in large numbers. The interesting substantive discussion after the lecture was attended by, among others, the Rector of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, Prof. Dr. Radosław Dobrowolski, and Prof. Dr. Jean Poesen, once again ranked this year in the top 2% of most cited scientists. The author of the photos is Michał Zembrzycki. |
