Our members in the Regional Council for Nature Conservation

We are honoured to announce a significant distinction: the participation of our Institute's staff in the Regional Council for Nature Conservation – a body of crucial importance for protecting the natural heritage of the Lublin region.

The Council, appointed by the Regional Director for Environmental Protection, includes, among others, Prof. Dr hab. Radosław Dobrowolski, Rector of UMCS, who has been elected as the Chair of the Council, and Dr hab. Stanisław Chmiel, prof. UMCS from the Department of Hydrology and Climatology at UMCS. This recognition underscores their extensive expertise and contributions to the advancement of environmental sciences. Other UMCS staff members are also part of the Council, highlighting the pivotal role of UMCS in nature conservation efforts.

The Regional Council for Nature Conservation is a forum that brings together distinguished experts, representatives of academia, public institutions, and non-governmental organisations. Its activities include reviewing conservation strategies, assessing the implementation of protective measures, and contributing to the development of regional environmental policies.

In its new term, the Council has already undertaken its first challenges, including reviewing proposals for the establishment of new nature reserves, such as “Las Ochoża” and “Sosnowiec.” The involvement of our staff in these efforts is not only a source of pride but also an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the future of the natural environment in the Lublin region.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Prof. Radosław Dobrowolski, Dr Hab. Stanisław Chmiel, and all other UMCS representatives in the Council on this honourable achievement. We wish them fruitful work in the service of nature conservation and the successful implementation of ambitious initiatives. Your dedication serves as an inspiration to the entire academic community at UMCS.
