The XXVII Scientific and Training Conference on Stratigraphy of the Pleistocene of Poland "Late Quaternary sedimentary environments of the Eastern Pomerania" was held in Stare Kiszewo in Kociewie on 5-9 September. The conference was attended by specialists in Quaternary geology from Poland and neighbouring countries. Among almost 100 participants, 6 persons were employees of our Institute: Prof. dr. hab. Maria Łanczont, Dr. hab. Przemysław Mroczek Prof. UMCS, Prof. dr. hab. Irena A. Pidek, Dr Anna Orłowska, Dr. hab. Sławomir Terpiłowski Prof. UMCS, Dr. hab. Paweł Zieliński Prof. UMCS. The scientific results presented by them (5 papers and 5 posters) are the result of the implementation of a number of NCN grants, two of which are currently led by employees of our Institute (Global, regional and local.. and Mid-European climatic oscillations...). In addition, as part of future organisational activities, the members of the conference established a new association "Polish Quaternary Union" (POLQUA). This association is to bring together Polish researchers of the Quaternary, i.e. the period in Earth's history covering the last 2.5 million years, and to become their representation at INQUA (International Quaternary Association). Prof. dr hab. Irena A. Pidek, was elected vice-president of the POLQUA Association for the term 2022-2024, while Prof. Dr. hab. Maria Łanczont was appointed to the Audit Committee. The aftermath of the conference will include a special volume Open Geosciences (IF= 1.467), with Dr hab. Przemysław Mroczek Prof. UMCS, as editor. |
