with deep regret announce that on March 15, 2024, passed away
Dr. hab. Piotr Zagórski, Prof. UMCS
Born on June 12, 1970.
Graduate of the Faculty of Biology and Earth Sciences in 1994.
Earned his PhD in Earth Sciences in 2003, and habilitated doctor degree in 2014.
Since 2019, he has been employed at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin as a university professor.
Professionally affiliated with the Faculty of Biology and Earth Sciences, and later with the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Spatial Management at UMCS, since 1994.
A renowned researcher in the field of geomorphology and contemporary morphogenetic processes of polar regions, geoarchaeology, and modern measurement techniques.
Leader of several polar expeditions to Spitsbergen. Member of the Committee for Polar Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Polish Polar Consortium, and the Association of Polish Geomorphologists.
Awarded the Silver Medal for Long Service.
The funeral service will take place on Friday, March 22, at 1:00 PM
at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Latyczów, located at Bursztynowa Street 20 in Lublin.
The burial ceremony, the following day, will be strictly for family.
