From 4 to 14 July this year at our Institute we host prof. Abdelfattah Zalat - an outstanding specialist in the analysis of fossil diatoms in lake sediments. The professor is the head of the laboratory of diatomology at the Department of Geology at Tanta University in Egypt.
Prof. Zalat collaborates with several Polish representatives of Earth and environmental sciences and archeology and has significant joint publishing achievements. Currently, he is involved in the NCN OPUS 14 research project "Mid-Eemian climate oscillations. Reconstruction based on multidisciplinary studies of fossil lake sediments of the Garwolin Plain (Central Poland) ”, the grant is headed by prof. dr hab. Irena Agnieszka Pidek (Department of Geomorphology and Palaeogeography). As part of the cooperation with professor Zalat and the Eemian project, we also host prof. Jerzy Nitychoruk - geologist and Rector of the Academia of Applied Sciences in Biala Podlaska.
