Between the 5th and 11th of February, our Institute is hosting Dr. hab. Maryna Komar, the Director of the National Museum of Natural History, which is part of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Kyiv. Dr. hab. Maryna Komar is a distinguished expert in the field of palynology, focusing on the analysis of pollen and other microscopic plant remains preserved in Quaternary sediments. Her research contributes to a deeper understanding of ancient environments and climate changes, shedding light on the evolution of ecosystems and the Earth's climate over the last two million years. Her visit is associated with scientific consultations within the framework of the NCN OPUS 16 grant "Global, regional, and local factors conditioning the paleoclimatic and paleoenvironmental record in Ukrainian loess-soil sequences along the Dnieper valley – from proximal to distal periglacial zones." It's worth noting that beyond her scientific passion, Maryna Komar is also actively involved in social activities, coordinating support for Ukrainian soldiers. Her commitment to humanitarian aid demonstrates her broad horizons and readiness to help those in need. |
