Today (i.e. 16 June 2023) marks the beginning of a three-day scientific conference on 'Glaciations and interglacials in Poland - current status and prospects for research'. The venue of the conference is the European Centre for Geological Education (ECEG) in Chęciny. It is an opportunity for specialists in Quaternary geology to honour the 60th anniversary of scientific work and the 85th birthday of Professor Leszek Lindner. The conference is organised by the staff of the Department of Climatic Geology, Faculty of Geology, University of Warsaw.
Honorary patronage was assumed by the Rector of the UMCS, Prof. dr hab. Radosław Dobrowolski, and the members of the scientific committee are the following employees of our Institute:
- prof. dr hab. Maria Łanczont,
- prof. dr hab. Irena Agnieszka Pidek,
- dr hab. Przemysław Mroczek, prof. UMCS,
- dr hab. Sławomir Terpiłowski, prof. UMCS,
- dr hab. Paweł Zieliński, prof. UMCS.
The conference will present the results of two OPUS NCN grants currently being carried out at our Institute:
- Middle Eemian climatic oscillations. Reconstruction based on multidisciplinary research of fossil lake sediments of the Garwolin Plain (Central Poland) PROJECT PAGE
- Global, regional and local factors determining the palaeoclimatic and palaeoenvironmental record in Ukrainian loess-soil sequences along the Dnieper valley - from proximal to distal areas of the periglacial zone PROJECT PAGE
